Vacation to your own backyard!
Koi ponds, pondless waterfalls, fountains and the care that keeps them running, for homes in Lakeway and the rest of Travis County.
Lakeway sits above Lake Travis on steep, rocky ground, and that terrain is both the opportunity and the complication for a water feature. Yards that fall away from the house are exactly where a stream and waterfall look best, because the grade does half the design work for you and the water has somewhere natural to go.
We have been building water features across this part of Travis County since 1999, and sloped lots are a good share of that work. Done right, a feature on a Lakeway hillside reads as though the water was always finding its way down the rock and the house was built around it.
Slope punishes a feature that was not engineered for it. Water finds the low side and leaves if the liner and the edges are not set to hold it there. Rock stacked on a grade shifts when the ground moves unless each stone is properly seated. A pump has to work against real elevation rather than a few inches of lift, which changes the sizing.
Add thin soil over limestone and the digging is slow, so the shape of what can go in is partly decided by what the excavator hits. None of that rules out a water feature here, and the payoff on a sloped lot is bigger than on flat ground. It just means the build has to respect the hill instead of fighting it, and that is a design question we answer standing on the slope with you.
Lakeway projects usually start with koi pond installation, since the grade lends itself to a waterfall or a stream running toward the house. For properties that already have something in the ground, water feature maintenance keeps it steady through the season and pond cleaning handles the full reset.
Features that lose level, or that never cleared properly, are what pond upgrades are for, and on a slope a leak is the most common complaint we get called about. Smaller patios and courtyards, which there are plenty of on these lots, are often better served by fountain and aeration installation.
Sloped lots are where experience shows up, because a mistake in how water is held on a hillside does not stay hidden for long. We have been building on Central Texas terrain since 1999 and have been a Master Certified Aquascape Contractor since 2007, so the systems we install here are standard equipment rather than one-off plumbing nobody can diagnose in five years.
