Vacation to your own backyard!
Koi ponds, pondless waterfalls, fountains and the care that keeps them running, for homes in Pflugerville and the rest of Travis County.
Pflugerville yards are mostly suburban lots on flatter ground than the Hill Country to the west, and flat changes the design problem in an interesting way. Without a natural grade, any drop in a waterfall has to be built, which means the rock work and the way it is stacked carries the whole illusion.
Done carelessly, that produces an obvious mound in the middle of a lawn, which is the single most common mistake we see on flat lots. Done well, the feature looks like the ground always did that. We have been building water features across the Austin area since 1999, and shaping believable elevation where there was none is a large part of the craft.
The ground here holds more clay than the limestone shelf west of town, and that cuts both ways. Clay digs more predictably than caliche, so excavation is usually faster and the shape of the pond is less dictated by what the machine hits.
On the other hand clay moves with moisture, swelling when it is wet and shrinking back in a dry summer, which matters for how edges and rock work are seated and for how plumbing is run. It also affects how water behaves around the outside of a liner. None of this is difficult to build for, but it is different enough from a Hill Country lot that the same build dropped in without adjustment will show it within a couple of seasons.
New features here come through koi pond installation, with pondless waterfalls a frequent pick for family yards where open water is a concern. Water feature maintenance handles the ongoing care, and pond cleaning covers the full drain and wash when the muck has built up past what the filtration can work through.
Where a previous installer cut corners on filtration or depth, pond upgrades correct it. For smaller patios, or for a stocked pond that needs more oxygen through the summer, there is fountain and aeration installation.
Since 1999 we have built and maintained water features across Central Texas, and we have been a Master Certified Aquascape Contractor since 2007. For a Pflugerville homeowner that mostly means two practical things: the system in your yard is one that can be serviced and sourced for years, and the people who installed it will still answer the phone when you call.
We are family owned, and we take on features we did not put in, which matters in neighborhoods where ponds have changed hands with the houses. Advice and estimates are free. Reach us at (512) 333-1999 to set up a look at your yard.
